My Take on AI
I like to compare programming to cooking.
I enjoy cooking. I have fun trying new recipes, getting to know the ingredients and eating something delicious at the end. Both the process and the result are part of my goal.
But just because I enjoy cooking doesn't mean I always want to cook myself. Sometimes I just want to eat a pizza. Still, I want to decide what goes on my pizza myself. Not someone else, but me.
And that's exactly how it is for me with programming.
I love writing code myself, understanding systems and solving problems. I enjoy the process just as much as the finished program.
But sometimes I simply have an idea for a piece of software I'd like to use. Then what I care about most is the end product, not necessarily how to get there.
Of course I could use existing software, but then someone else decides which features I get and how they work. After all, I want to choose my pizza toppings myself, even if I don't bake it myself.
That's why I use AI to bring my own software ideas to life, without having to deal with all of the programming every time. I simply don't have the time or capacity for that.
For me, these are two different hobbies: Sometimes I want to program because I enjoy programming. And sometimes I just want to create software that does exactly what I want.
One doesn't replace the other. After all, just because I sometimes order a pizza doesn't mean I lose my joy of cooking.
